The Way There and Back isn’t just a ride service — we’re a promise. Every day, we help elderly and disabled neighbors across Charleston, SC get to the doctor, the pharmacy, the grocery store, and everywhere in between, safely and with dignity. Because a ride is never just a ride. It’s independence, connection, and the freedom to keep living life on your own terms.
Since our founding, we’ve provided over 700 rides to Charleston-area seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Why We Built a Ride Service Charleston Seniors Could Actually Trust
It started with a simple, frustrating truth: too many of our elderly and disabled neighbors in the Lowcountry were missing medical appointments, skipping errands, and losing touch with their communities — not because they didn’t want to go, but because they had no safe way to get there.
Standard rideshare apps weren’t built for someone using a walker, managing memory loss, or needing a hand from the car to the front door. So Glenn Barrett and Mark Snelson co-founded The Way There and Back to close that gap with something Charleston didn’t have yet: a concierge ride service for seniors that treats every passenger like family.
